Song For The Weekend: Bombay Bicycle Club – Dust On The Ground (Acoustic)

It has been just over a year since Bombay Bicycle Club released their debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’, yet they’ve managed to find the time (despite a year of relentless touring) to record and release a brand new acoustic album.

‘Flaws’ was released earlier this week (it has just charted at number 8 in the UK album charts) and shows a totally different side to BBC, but those fearing an ‘MTV Unplugged’ style spin-off will be sadly mistaken. Flaws doesn’t sound like an acoustic BBC album should sound like, it’s beautiful, cleaver and most of all real – and the band hope it will make the people who dismissed them as landfill indie take it all back.

This weeks Song For The Weekend perfectly shows the transition between the two albums (‘Dust On The Ground’ is the only survivor from their debut that’s made it on to the new album) in all its delicate swooning glory. I’ll be hearing the album live this week as the band continue their UK and head to Brighton – so a live review will follow shortly.
