Song For The Weekend Glastonbury Special: David Bowie – Heroes (2000)

26 06 2010

While the punters at this years event try and fight off sun stroke, my song for the weekend takes a look back at one of Glastonbury’s best ever performances. It’s the year 2000, George Bush still has a political reputation, Twitter is still a full 6 years away from creation and David Bowie headlined the Pyramid Stage.

Some feared that Bowie’s headline set would have something of an experimental edge, missing out his biggest hits – but the reality was far from that as he swanned on stage and played the whole bleedin’ lot! The final track of an epic three pronged finale (that also included ‘Under Pressure’ and ‘Ziggy Stardust’) ‘Heroes’ was a beautiful finish to what turned out to be one of the finest sets Worthy Farm has ever seen.
